Welcome to this new section I have created called Frugal Friday’s, here I will be writing about random stuff that you can find which are more economical than high end brands and basically do the same. Through the years and rough experiences I have noticed that there are several products, from beauty thru household related, that come in two types of categories, high brands which are expensive and the rest that aren’t. There are cases when you really don’t have to spend a lot to make things work. So I will be adding reviews to products I have used and have an honest opinion about.
So, the first one will be the comparison between the Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing ($119.00 USD) and the Sephora Face Complexion Brush ($5.00 USD). The story behind it is this one; I actually wanted to get the Clarisonic. One of my goals of this year is improving my face care routine, but the truth is that I am just getting used to the fact of removing my makeup and washing my face each night and I was definitely not going to spend that amount of money. So I made a deal with myself, I would be buying the Sephora Face Complexion Brush which is cheap, and I heard good reviews about it. If I created the habit for 6 months of washing my face using it, I would be buying the Clarisonic.
So I started using the Sephora brush religiously and let me just tell you one thing, this tool is amazing and it really improved my skincare routine. I use it daily and I love it because it leaves my skin smooth and clean. Another plus are the bristles, they are soft but not that much, as a result this does not hurt my skin at all. I use it with my Cetaphil Liquid Soap for Sensitive skin, but I also have used it with the Olay daily regenerating cream wash. This has helped reducing my acne in just a month of using it.
In retrospective, after using the Sephora brush I don’t think I will be buying the Clarisonic, the only difference I see until now is that my brush is not electric and I have to use my arm in circular motions to cleanse my face, but hey a little exercise doesn’t hurt anyone! So I am very pleased and I really recommend it. If you don’t want to spend 5 bucks you can also opt for a soft bristles tooth brush, it will really improve the way you wash your face.
Don’t get me wrong, I do think the Clarisonic is a good product, I have seen several reviews about it and no one has been bad. But, I do think that the price is quite high for my economy. I understand it’s for your skin care, but I do think that there are less expensive ways to take care of it. Anyways I hope this is helpful for you and helps you add one step to your cleansing routine.
