Frugal Friday’s: Battle of the Primers

Hey all, welcome to this new post of Frugal Friday, I wanted to make this post for so long, but I wanted to try these products the most that I could to make sure to bring you accurate information. And let me just tell you that I am amazed with the results and very excited to give you this review. So without further due todays competitors are:

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion ($18.00) and ELF Eyelid Primer ($1.00)

First of all the price, which makes my mouth open wide every time I see the ELF primer in the shelves of stores. Not so long ago I remember that eye shadow primers were not that famous in the world of normal makeup (and by that I mean my world) I remember applying my shadows back in college and wanted them to be vibrant and to last a bit more (I have very oily lids). I used to think that I was one of those unlucky girls who makeup wasn’t built for. But I was just wrong. I remember the first time I run into a primer was when I started watching YouTube videos. I could not believe such thing would exist. So I ran to my nearest Ulta and bought the Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion, I could not believe it when I used it; it was like magic in my eyes. And made my shadows last all day. Although it did hurt me pay that amount of money for this product I was very satisfied with my purchase I mean this solved a huge problem I had for a long time. I must say that this product is very good and didn’t disappoint me.

Then months later I found the ELF eye shadow primer in a Target. The truth is that I could not resist and I had to purchase it, I mean a dollar really?? At first glimpse I thought this would not work on me. But after using it constantly I came to this opinion. THIS PRODUCT ROCKS literally, as I apply my shadow it is by the time I get back from the office. I love it so much that every time someone asks for a primer I suggest that one. I love it.

So if you are a beginner in makeup save your money for other products and buy the ELF one, really, I haven’t gotten thru it either so I think it lasts a lot of time. Also it is a cream product and you don’t want it to expire.

  1. I have both of these products, and love both! I got my Urban Decay on Hautelook for a good price. But the e.l.f. one is just as good. Cheers!

  2. Is Urban Decay primer potion similar to too faced shadow insurance, do you know? – BTW I have the elf primer aswell, its great for the price

    • You know I have both and have never made a comparisson, but let me tell you that I have used the Too Faced and it does work for me also and I have very oily lids. What I’ve felt from the Too Faced is that the formula is lighter than the Urban Decay, but both seem the same to me. ^_^ What I used to like about the too faced one was the aplicator, for me it’s more hygienic because you don’t have a wand, but the UD has that presentation now. Hope this helps! ^_^

      • It Does help thank you. It’s just I have too faced shadow insurance, but I know people go crazy over UD primer potion. And I didn’t want to buy the UD one and have both if they are near enough similar in formula/staying power etc. Thank you so much 🙂

  3. You’re welcome! ^_^ Have a great weekend!
