Frugal Friday’s: Battle of the Mascaras

Hey everyone I hope that you all are having a great Friday. Today I decided to do this post because I am a mascara maniac. I would consider my lashes have enough length, but one thing that I have struggled my entire life is holding up the curl. I mean when I apply mascara my lashes just go down. I really envy my hubby because he has these beautiful naturally curled lashes. Anyways these are the contenders for the day:

Maybeline The Falsies Volum Express Mascara ($6.00) and Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara ($20.00 USD)

Ok first of all the Maybeline Falsies, the brand claims that this product has a patented spoon brush that fans out lashes from corner-to-corner, while the Pro-Keratin formula instantly builds volume without clumping. It also says that is contact lens safe and ophthalmologist tested. Now there is also a washable formula but I got the waterproof one.

At first I thought the formula was wet, and that is no good for my lashes, I really need to leave my mascaras open a little bit so they get the right consistency. But, even though this, it really worked really nice on my lashes, now that the mascara has dried a little bit I LOVE IT this product leaves my lashes curly and very volumized. I wear my glasses almost every single day and let me tell you that this mascara shows! With other products it normally seems like if I am not wearing mascara, but not with this product. Something that I have noticed is that as it is waterproof it’s REALLY HARD to take it off; I need to use a makeup wipe plus makeup remover. But I mean I really like this mascara and for the price it’s great. This product has replaced my Benefit’s they are Real mascara (because that thing makes my lashes weird).

Now for the Urban Decay mascara. I bought this as a sample in Sephora a long time ago (Before starting my Project Pan) and I was so eager for this to work on me. The package Is beautiful and it has also a spoon shaped brush. Urban Decay claims that this product In addition to holding curl all day, it boasts incredible conditioning ingredients in its formula. Packed with glycoprotein for lash thickening, Moringa seeds to help with curl definition, and Meadowfoam seed oil and Shea Butter for moisturizing and smoothing, lashes get an extra nourishing boost with just one swipe.

For me it was like regular mascara, really, maybe it would work for someone whose lashes would not be that flat. But for me it just didn’t, I did feel that the formula was really wet at first do I let it air dry a bit. It did not work either. And to think that I paid for this sample what I paid for the falsies I really think I lost me a couple of dollars there. The material of the brush kind of reminds me to the They are Real from benefit. Anyways, I would not buy it again. As I have said in the past I love Urban Decay products, but I just don’t think that this is a hit. I will be using this for my lower lashes though in order to finish the product and not waste it.

So that was all for today, I would really like to know if you have used any of these products and what you think about them so please comment ^_^

xoxo

  1. I’ve used tons of mascaras before and my fave is a shiseido one they discontinued called lasting lift mascara.. AH wish they’d make it again!!!

  2. Oh my gosh, Maybelline The Falsies mascara is my hands down all time favourite! Nothing has worked so well. This replaced my long time favourite, Volume Express by Maybelline which used to be my fave.

  3. My fav is still Rimmell Mousse, I blogged about the results a few weeks ago. I am also using Maybelline Falsies which is 2nd runner up in my book.

Let me know your thoughts...
