Beauty is Not Only a Job, it's an Adventure

My Opinion: Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Strips

Hi everyone Happy Friday!! so today I have this review for all of you, this is related to the Sally Hansen Nail Strips that been causing a huge rave inside the beauty community for a couple of months now. I found a box on sale and I decided to give them a try. I’ve been reading about them from some time now, there are girls who loved them and there are girls who simply hated them.

The box retails for $9.00 USD and it’s for one application, which is kind of expensive for my own taste. It says that it lasts up to 10 days but the truth is that with that money I could get a new bottle of nail polish which would last me for several uses. I bought it for $3.00 on sale, and I think just for the fun of trying them out.

Anyways you can see below, the box comes with a little nail file – buffer, a small step guide, cuticle stick, and 16 polish strips. The step guide tells you how to prepare your nails before applying the strips and what to do when you apply them. Read, it seemed easy.

Now, time of application, the truth is that this was a little hard for me, I was expecting less time for applying these. It took me around 40 minutes to leave them somehow presentable for the pictures. The sizes of the strips were kind of odd, so some of my nails were not as good as they could. In some I was missing and on others I had leftover product.

It’s not that hard to apply them, but I did get tired on the 7th nail. I just wanted to finish the job. Also the file you use for removing the excess of the strips somehow stopped working on the 6th nail, so that’s maybe why I also got desperate.

Something else that I found was that in some nails the tips would not stay in place (even though I made sure to buff them well and apply nail polish remover before) so today I woke up with some chipping in my nails, not that noticeable, but still I know it’s there and I don’t like it.

In the end I just decided to add a coat of my sally Hansen Insta-Dri, just to make them look brighter. One thing is for sure; the nails that fit me don’t have any chipping and look Ok. And as my cousin said to me today, they have a good distance look.

Now I don’t think I would be repurchasing these, I mean I love changing my polish 2 times a week and 10 days with the same color, it’s just not me. Another thing this is time consuming, polish will take me at most 15 minutes. Lastly the price, I think these are very expensive at normal price. And it really bothers me to see that I could get two Insta-Dri’s or more polish jajajaj…

I would like to know if you have tried these, what you think of them. Have they really lasted 10 days?

Until next time,

  1. Yes, I understand how you feel about the cost, they are $8.50 here even with a $1.00 off it’s kinda pricey. However, I don’t have problems adhering them and they last longer than 10 days which is a plus for me. I was thinking about using another coupon for the new toe nail salon effects, but don’t think they will be as good.

  2. looks really cute! I haven’t tried them yet!

Let me know your thoughts...
