I’ve been uploading YouTube videos for some time now, I love doing it I really do, recording and uploading videos has helped me a lot with my confidence, expand my universe, and it is easier for me now to express what I think giving my opinion about beauty, makeup and other topics.
Well as you may know, if you upload videos you can become a YouTube partner, and get paid due to the ads that appear in your videos. Is not much (unless your video turns super-viral) but it is something. You can do this only if the content in your video is your own, what I mean is you cannot go and add material that does not belong to you (music, videos, etc.).
I’ve been always very very careful of that, because I do not want to infringe the rules, or at least that’s what I thought until now when I got 2 of mi videos rejected for the monetization program…I got very concerned I mean I started thinking what did I do wrong? But yet I saw my videos and could not find anything that might be different from the others I have that are monetized.
Until today when I reviewed my e-mail, and found this from YouTube:
Thanks for submitting your video “The Best of The Best in Beauty 2012” for monetization. We did not approve this video for monetization because the content in your video and/or the metadata may not be advertiser-friendly.
Please note that YouTube reserves the right to make the final decision whether to monetize a video, and we may disable monetization for partners who repeatedly submit ineligible videos.
As next steps, please read our Community Guidelines before enabling another video for monetization.
Now let me be honest I did not understand what they meant with “the content in your video and/or the metadata may not be advertiser-friendly” and neither a lot of people whose videos are being rejected. This never happened to me before, and the material included in my video is my own, I did not add any videos or images or songs. It is me only talking about makeup. And that’s what I explained when they sent me a first e-mail asking me about my video.
For what I read a lot of people is having this problem since January 8th, which was when I received that e-mail. Something happened and we don’t know what it was and we would really appreciate an answer from YouTube, because advertiser-friendly does not explain a lot.
Does anyone have had this problem? If so do you know something about it?
