My No Spending Month: January Results

Hello everyone, so today I have my results for the first month of My No Spending Month Project. If you are unfamiliar of what am I talking about you can go here. Anyways, January ended and I do think that I was quite successful, but I also noticed that I still have huge cravings for hitting the stores.

My improvement so far, well I didn’t visit the makeup aisles or counters while shopping for real necessities (i.e. groceries), during January I think I had to go at least 4 times to Target and countless times to Wal-Mart but did not buy anything that was makeup or fashion related (which is a big plus because they always have cute stuff).

I only bought one thing and that was face cleanser (which is allowed), because my Purpose cleanser was over. So I had to go to the beauty aisles in Target, but avoided all makeup, I went directly to the Clean & Clear section and grabbed my face soap, which makes me proud to say now that I am writing this.

This last Monday was my greatest desire to go shopping, I owe this to the fact that I had the day off from work, I did not have much to do and received several coupons from Ulta, Bath & Body Works and The Limited (damn you coupons). I don’t know how, but I just hid them and thought about going to the gym instead, which helped me a lot.

Now on the financial side, I was not able to save much, but I think that is due to the fact that in January I normally have lots of payments to do, but I did feel a difference from last year when I could only wait for my next paycheck to arrive. This year was different because I did have a small cushion in my bank account.

Another thing that I noticed is that I had become more selective, that is right. The other day I was watching clothes at the forever 21 site, and in the past when I checked them out I was ready to place an order. Now I saw the clothes and yes some of them are cute, but nothing that would make me say I MUST HAVE THIS BECAUSE I NEED IT. And this is one of my purposes as well, become a more selective buyer, and I think it is working.

So will I hit it again for February? Yes I will, so stay tuned for an update on Mid February ?

Until Next Time,

xoxo

  1. i commend you. I think I need to try this because I am recklessly impulsive when it comes to online shopping. This has inspired me, thankyou 🙂

    • Thank you for your comment 🙂 Yes I just got to a point where I said to myself, I need to do this if I want something better for my life. I am glad this has inspired you, and if I can do it you can do it too!!

  2. Congrats , I haven’t chosen my “no-spend” month yet, because it definitely wasn’t January or February.
