Dry Shampoo’s

Yesterday, I was talking to a friend who recently moved to the states from other country. We were talking about hair stuff (because you all know I love hair products and experimenting with my hairstyles). Anyways, at some point she was telling me that she saw a video in YouTube because she wanted to learn how to curl her hair, and she asked me about dry shampoo because she saw the girl using it at some point.

And you know how passionate I am about Dry Shampoo, my motto is, If you are trying to grow your hair do not wash it every single day, the majority of the stylists if not all will tell you the same.

Thankfully we now have dry shampoo, which will help you those days, because nobody wants to be walking with oily greasy hair. Also, you can use dry shampoo if you need to give volume to your hair (which I am guessing the girl in the video did) not necessarily only if you have dirty hair.

Now, I have tried a big variety of dry shampoo’s over the years you name it I used it, and as my hair is dark it is harder to find a good product that doesn’t leave your scalp white. I use it because YES I do not wash my hair every day because I am trying to let it grow and I have a lot, so washing it is a nightmare.

Today I will talk a bit about my recent faves:

1. Batiste. This is my number 1 product I love it because it is designed for brunettes and it really works at making my hair look clean, I just only wished scent was better, but still I love the results it gives. You can find this at Ulta but is a bit pricey around $8.00 USD for a bottle, but I buy mine at Marshalls and it is less expensive :).

2. Dove. In love with the scent but it does leave a white cast so you need to comb your hair very good after you apply it, this buddy is inexpensive, you can find it at walmart for around $3.00 USD. I heard some people saying that this doesn’t last a lot, but I had mine for the longest time (not sure if they got a lemon).

3. Suave Conditioner. This is the first product I saw that came with dry shampoo and dry conditioner, I finished the shampoo (which did not amaze me…sorry), but this conditioner I like, I don’t know if it really works or just in my mind but I like applying it sometimes after the dry shampoo, not totally necessary but I want to finish it up.

4. Oscar Blandi. I bought this for my wedding day, I love it because this is the first CLEAR shampoo I use, it is very easy to apply for the same reason and it has a nice scent to it, not overwhelming at all.

5. Detox by Dry Bar. I got this as a YouTube made me do it kind of thing, people rave a lot about this brand, it does work but it is white I think this would work great if you are a blond, but I really cannot justify the price, this little bottle cost me around $12.00 USD.

So I hope this help you all, have you used any of these shampoo’s?

Until next time,

xoxo

Frugal Friday | The Battle of Dry Shampoo’s

Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Frugal Friday, today it is all about Dry Shampoo. I believe that this product is the key for taking good care of long hair. When my hair was short I did not have much problem but now things are different and I have to do everything I can to keep it healthy and shiny. Also, I go to the gym almost every single day and honestly I cannot go and wash my hair constantly because the water where I live is a bit harsh.

So today contenders are:

  1. TRESemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo 5.7 Oz for $4.49 USD. This was the first dry shampoo I bought when I became aware of these products, honestly at that time, there weren’t many under the budget options and this seemed to be the one who adequate to my necessities without breaking my wallet. This product is designed for Oily/Straight to Normal hair. My thoughts well, scent is not a good one, which I didn’t like but did not linger in my hair, it would get rid of my oiliness but only for a couple of hours and I could only use it under state of emergency because it was a white spray (my hair is dark) so this was not the greatest option for me.

  2. Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo 5 Oz for $3.55 USD.This was the second dry shampoo I was able to try; it was a major change from the TRESemme one, because this one has a nicer scent. I liked it because even though it was a white spray it was easier for me to make it work into my hair. Scent did fade after a couple of minutes and they also sold the conditioner for the same price, the conditioner gives shine to your hair and also has a nice scent. But still although this would last me longer than the TRESemme it did not cut an entire day for me.

  3. Dove Refresh + Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo 5 Oz for $4.89 USD. This product is between the last two in price comparison, and in my opinion works great. I did notice that even though this is a white spray as well, I don’t have to invest a lot of time in making it disappear, it makes my hair last all day and it gives it volume. Now something that needs to be considered is that this product has a STRONG perfume scent and I mean a very overpowering one. I would apply it and believe me the scent will linger on me all day (Suggestion: Don’t wear perfume that day). So if you have troubles with scent I would stay away from this one because it does last. Another thing to consider and this hasn’t happened to me but I read it has to some is that some cans tend to empty really fast, like after two uses. I am not sure if that is a fail in the design or what, but I would be very upset to pay a can, use it twice and have no product left.

  4. Batiste A Hint of Colour Dark & Deep Brown Dry Shampoo 6.73 Oz for $5.99 (At Marshalls). First of all let me clarify that the Batiste Shampoo’s are not that price, they are sold at $8.00 USD and in the States are hard to find, the only place I’ve seen Batiste was in an Ulta near where I live and they are sold at $8.00 a can, so what was my surprise that while walking over a Marshalls the other day I found this product. I don’t know any other brand that for this price will give you a product especially for your hair needs. I mean “dark deep brown” just said my name in the bottle. Did I purchase it? HECK YEAH. I’ve wanted to try this for the longest (and I don’t see myself flying to the UK soon) so it was a surprise to find it here. Anyways, I used it and fell in love, absolutely 0 white spray, it absorbs oil very nice and my hair looked completely normal the next day. I used it again for 3 days straight (for the sake of this post) and my hair amazingly survived. It does have this scent but it was not as overpowering as the Dove Can and it did fade during the day. Just beware, if you use this product you have to be careful when you apply it as it is for dark hair it is a tinted spray, so it can stain your clothes, the instructions say you can clean them with soap and water but I don’t want to risk it so I apply it when I am still in my pajamas.

Overall, if I had to pick one I would certainly go with the Batiste Dry Shampoo, only because it does last longer and it is designed for my hair. If I was under a heavy budget (and could not find it in Marshalls anymore) I would have to go with Dove, but now that I think about their empty can maybe I would not want to risk in paying double which would give me Batiste at full price.

Hope this post was helpful for you,

Have you tried any of these or any other? Please let us know in the comments below.

Until Next Time,

Want Straight Hair?

My hair is wavy and sometimes it’s just very hard to tame. Anyways, there are just times when I need my hair to look like if a pro straightened it without going to the salon (‘cuz you gotta save those bucks); for those occasions I use my John Frieda 3-day Straight Styling Spray. I think I did a post on this one when I was starting my blog, but now I wanted to make a video to show you how wonderful this product is.
Enjoy!

My Sample Opinion: Not your mothers Smooth Moves

Hey everybody, so I’ve been using the Not Your Mothers sample that I received in my Influenster box. It is the Not Your Mothers Smooth Moves Frizz Control Hair Cream Now, every day I’ve been washing my hair with my normal shampoo for colored hair, but the truth is that my conditioner ran out, and I haven’t gotten the chance to get another one (the truth is that I keep forgetting to get one every time I go to the store). So in the meantime I started using this small bottle as my “leave in conditioner” after I get out of the shower.

A little background here, my hair is thick and is a bit curly when I don’t tame it properly.

This is the first product from this brand that I get to use, so they say that this exclusive salon formula with coconut oil and silk extracts straightens, de-frizzes and adds shine.

Now at first, this product does smell like coconut (which I adore) I apply a tiny bit (you don’t need a ton of product) in my damp hair right after jumping of the shower and let air dry or use my hair dryer. After this my hair does feel good and smooth.

I have been using my flat iron and I have noticed a difference, normally when I straighten my hair without applying any product (I mean when I don’t use my 3 day straight spray from John Frieda) I am left with a bit of frizz (and a weird bump in the back of my head), now this product does get rid of that, which is great because I normally don’t like to abuse of my John Frieda spray (I like it for special occasions) so this product is great for everyday use in my case.

For the price, I saw that you can get this starting at $6.00 (for 4.0 Oz) which is a good deal if you are using it constantly. I loved this product and it gives it enough kudos to try other products from Not your Mothers!!

Disclaimer: I received this product complimentary from Influenster.com for testing purposes all opinions stated here are my own.

Have you used any product from this brand that you like?

Until Next Time,

xoxo

My Weekend in Pictures, Empties of the Month, & More.

Hey everybody so today I have my weekend in pictures. So let’s get started first of all on Friday I went with my sister and did a little bit of rush shopping. And for rush I mean it was 8:00 pm and we had to get a complete outfit for her, before the mall closed at 9:00 pm So we just said Challenge Accepted!!. And we were so lucky we found everything she needed (‘Cuz she can be very picky sometimes).

In the meantime I was able to look at these stilettos/flats, talking about fashionable statement pieces for this fall. These things looked like WOW! If I had to choose I would definitely go for the flats, but that’s just me.

Straight those Curls Away!

Hi everyone, so today I decided to flat iron my hair the right way. The thing is that when I straight my hair I would just dry my hair and then go with my CHI flat iron in the sides I feel I need it and voilà.. But today I said “Ok I won’t be lazy” and remembered about a product that I truly love and I could not believe I didn’t add this in my Holy Grail Products List. I am almost done of this bottle and I will definitely be repurchasing it.
