Is Kat Von D too much for me? And what’s been going on?

Traveling this week to visit my family…Yay!! I am very excited and happy every time I get to see them. Anyways today while doing my Packing list I thought about talking a little bit new products I’ve been using for the past couple of weeks.

201403_00

First of all let’s start with Kat Von D Lock – It Tattoo Foundation I purchased this in exchange to my Laura Mercier  – Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free which I must say did not cause a big of an impact for me, and makes me prefer way more drugstore brands besides this one, I also thought it was overpriced for the results it delivered. As I was returning this one I thought I would try the Kat Von D foundation because I heard great things about it, especially for Oily skin.

Well I got it, and let me just say this, foundation is very full coverage, I’ve never seen or tried something like it, a little bit goes a long way and photographs really nice, the package comes with a pump which is always something I give big kudos to because it is easier to apply, and it comes with a lot of product (30 ml), price wise is not that expensive as other brands at $34.00 USD and If you have oily skin this would work for you.

Now, you must be shocked of my next following words, I will be returning this product. It is not that the product is not a love, and it really is a great foundation, but I consider is too heavy for me, I tried applying it with my beauty blender to give it a more sheer appearance, but all the time it looks as if I am wearing a lot of makeup, which for an office employee that might give a different impression lol…

This is NOT a bad foundation in all means, and it did work for my oily skin, I was not a shiny ball after a long day, even after going to the gym. But it’s just not suited for me. However it depends on what you are looking for, as I said it looks great in pictures, but in person I look like wearing makeup, lots of it.

The next product I have is from Clinique OMG this is freaking cute, I saw it and fell in love, you know how much I love blush, so they released new blushes with great colors they are called Cheek Pops  I abstained myself in only getting one so I purchased Berry Pop which is a beautiful color I love it pigmentation is very good they are not chalky and you can really build the color up.

And the last thing I have is my new love, my must desired for years Tory Burch flats, these things men they are expensive, but are so beautiful and look so nice with everything. The perfect flat for work, going out, hanging with friends, etc. I am still in the process of breaking them in to see if the theory it’s true that they will become the comfiest pair of flats ever. But so far so good I love them and have been wearing them nonstop.

Until Next Time,

xoxo

Review | Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

Last year for my birthday my sister knew that I wanted to try the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation; she was nice enough to get it for me, but I think I completely forgot to do a review for all of you. Well you can say that this review will be very accurate because I have tried this foundation in literally all seasons now and can give you my thoughts.

This foundation has been all over in YouTube and most of the reviews I read before purchasing it were very favorable, so that is why I decided to give it a try, Chanel describes this product as hybrid fluid that creates a fresh, natural complexion. Skin looks refined and feels refreshed. The fluid formula has soft, water-light texture, and comes in 10 shades that match perfectly to skin’s undertones, whether pink or beige. Dermatologist-tested. Non-comedogenic. Oil- free. It has SPF 15 (which in my opinion is not enough).

Well after reading all that and seeing all those reviews I was ready and my sister took me to a Chanel counter at Dillard’s and there I received the best treatment, they used all their line (toners, moisturizers, serums, primers & foundation) on me. Of course that after that my face felt like a baby’s butt. And I got it.

When coming home and starting to use it I had to work with it, as this is water based you need to give the bottle a good shake before using it, it took me a week of uses to get the hang of it, because even if I shook it good I could not get an even mix.

Application is easy, you do not have to be a blending pro and feels very natural, I liked this foundation mainly because of the scent, (which is amazing but this is not a perfume). However I noticed that the coverage is very sheer (I could understand why it says ultra-light) and although it makes my face look a bit brighter I do have to go with concealer to get rid of my dark circles and a couple of freckles I have.

Now for my oiliness, well it did make my T-zone shine at the middle of the day when it was summer even if I sealed it with powder, and on winter my skin was strangely dry that I could not use it because I had dry patches and the foundation would strangely sit on those. For autumn and spring it was Ok, but not great.

Overall I don’t think that (at least for me) spending $52.00 dollars for a foundation that has light coverage is justified I do think it is overpriced for what it does for me, especially because I have to go with my oil absorbing sheets in the middle of the day. I am almost over with this foundation, and although I love the scent, well I don’t think I will be purchasing this again. I keep thinking in which conditions I would buy this, and “maybe” it would be if my skin was normal (and it wasn’t that freaking expensive), but only that.

Have you tried this foundation? if so what are your thoughts on it?

Until Next Time,

xoxo

Review | Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation

For this summer drugstore brands are aiming for products that have a natural feeling to your skin (you know as if you were not wearing any makeup but still look as if you slept 8 hours every day). Honestly nobody wants to feel as if they are wearing a mask, today calls for natural looks and easy applications (because who has time to blend blend blend). Revlon entered the market with its own Nearly Naked Foundation and Powder, when I saw the name naked in instantly thought about Urban Decay and its entire Naked Line.

My background with Revlon has been using their Colorstay foundation for oily skin, and I like it, but I do consider it a bit heavy for every day. That is why I was really curious about the Nearly Naked foundation.

First of all, the design, I need a pump please and let me tell you why, when I use any of the Revlon foundations I tend to waste a lot of product, also the bottle is glass, so you need to treat it carefully and keep it away from children.

However, the foundation itself is AMAZING, it is lightweight which means this will give you a light to medium coverage. Do not expect this will take away all of your discoloration or get rid of your dark circles because it won’t, but it will brighten your skin and will make you look very natural as if you were applying a tinted moisturizer with more power. I can easily go after that with my Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer and get rid of my dark circles without my face looking cakey.

It comes with SPF 20 which I think is decent for a drugstore foundation. Now, how does this react with my oily skin? Well when I first started using it I did break out a bit but I always do when I change foundations. Sometimes, depending on the weather I do have to go with an Oil Absorbing Sheet at lunch time on my T-Zone (especially because I wear glasses), but nothing bad, foundation does stay on place and I look good the entire day.

Color Range is good, they came out with 15 different shades which gives you a wide range to select the color that suits you better, what I did is I took my favorite foundation to the drugstore and try to match it, or you can also take Revlon’s test at their website in order to see which one is the best for you.

Price is decent around $7.00 to $8.00 depending where you buy it and I really think is a good drugstore option if you are in the need of a budget friendly lightweight foundation. All in all, YES this is an approved product for me and I would repurchase.

Have you tried this foundation? If so, what are your thoughts?

Until Next Time,

xoxo

Clinique Gives You Freebies

With winter going away and spring coming, I must admit my face was awful. I started breaking out really bad (which I normally don’t) and I my face was suffering. While trying to change soaps, which didn’t work out I remember about Clinique. I used to use Clinique in high school you know the time when you are more prone to have acne and all that, my mom used to buy me their 3 steps. So that would work for me. So the other day I had to go, I was feeling in high school all over again and I needed a solution.

While being there I noticed that they had a promotion. If you’ve been to Clinique counters you know that time to time they come with their gift bags if you buy certain amount of money. Well they had this. If you bought 25.00 USD, you would receive a makeup bag full of goodies. I wanted to go for the 3 steps again, but the little bag already came with a face wash a moisturizer and a night cream that I said I will try their foundation. I’ve never tried a Clinique foundation, but I always wanted to because I had heard good things.

So I went for the Clinique even better foundation. When I saw it I was like this size is very small, but remembered that that is the size of the Chanel Vitalumiere aqua, and that really has lasted me a long time.

My thoughts, well it’s been now 2 weeks since I started using it all together with the soap and I must say my pizza face is gone. I love the day moisturizer because it is a gel which is perfect for my oily skin but makes my face feel hydrated enough. The night cream is very rich as well and does help me a lot. For the foundation I do like it, but it is kind of light to medium coverage, it gives you a very natural look, if you do have some discoloration you will have to go with concealer, which I have to do, but overall I like it.

The makeup bag also came with a trio 2 eyeshadows and 1 blush. Shadows are meh, they were not that pigmented for me so I did have to pack more color, if you have fair skin maybe they will be nice for you. But the blush OMG I love it, and I just wished it was only the blush included.

The lipstick comes in color cranberry glace. It is very nice color as well, they had two different for you to pick this one and a more natural one, but since I am now into bright lips I chose this one. It is a very nice pop of color but not overwhelming. Very appropriate for office work.

And last the mascara. Let me say I did had high hopes for this one (as I do for all new mascaras LOL), but this one I just don’t know I didn’t like it for one thing. Ok yes it feels natural and looks good, but my lashes cannot hold a curl very easily, this doesn’t hold it, and it smudges under my eye area, and makes me look as a raccoon by the end of the day. I don’t like that and I hope you neither.

But overall pretty amazed I mean of all the products I only hated the mascara and the 2 shadows. But my face got fixed and it is ready for summer.

Project Downsize (Foundation, Concealer & Primers)

Organizing and detoxing that’s what I did this past weekend while cleaning my makeup drawers. Today I have for you my first drawer downsize, in here I have foundations, concealers and primers. I did a video because I think that it was easier for the process. So I hope you enjoy.

I did notice a couple of things while cleaning that drawer:

  1. I need to stop buying foundation
  2. I had too much stuff that did not belong there

Many of the things I had there where samples that should go to the samples box. Samples box will have its separate downsize after I finish cleaning all the drawers I have, because now I am guessing I have samples all over those drawers.

Anyways, to see the finished look made me realize that I can do this, I can downsize even more by using what I have (now that I know what I have) and I can keep it that way.

Hope you enjoy and see you on the next drawer…

Christmas Nails & Makeup Bummers

So I haven’t properly said Happy Monday, so here I am “Happy Monday” if you are one of the people who has a case of a Monday, Chillax my friend because almost half of the day has gone away. Here at my city we had our first official winter day today, really, we were having so nice temperatures (which is very odd for Texas during this time of year). So today I had to apply the layer technique before going out of home.

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and that you are almost over with your Christmas Shopping, if you haven’t finished yet and are still in the need for some ideas I would suggest you to go and check out my posts for Christmas Gifts ideas; you can click here and here

Now, on more important news, last night I was thinking of doing something Christmassy to my nails. Honestly, I suck at nail art. I mean I can paint my nails normally and everything with no problem, but when it comes to adding a design or something cute that might involve tape I really am a mess. But I didn’t want to go with red only. So I decided to add a tiny golden stripe to the tips.

You can try out this with any colors that you have but I chose a tiny cherry red color that I have from OPI from 2 years ago, and then I added the tiny golden stripe to my tips using an Ulta mini polish. I discovered that the tip between coats is patience and a very good top coat that can help your nails dry faster. I am crossing my fingers for this manicure to last me all week because I have a lot of work at home and the office.

In other news, over the weekend I did some shopping, I was in the need of a new foundation, so I had to hit Sephora because I got a $15.00 Gift Card when you spent $50.00 bucks, which coming from Sephora is a big deal, so I didn’t know if I should repurchase my Makeup Forever foundation or try something new; truthfully I love trying new products, so I ended up getting something else (expect a haul soon)…but what I wanted to talk about was something else I got that I am really disappointed.

So, I heard a while ago about these pretty lippies form the brand Bite Beauty, since then, I’ve been dying to try them out. So I decided to get a small kit that comes with a lip gloss and two tiny pretty lipsticks (Colour + Shine to Go Kit). Colors seemed to be gorgeous; so yesterday we were going out and I decided to try the Santee gloss. First Con, the scent, I don’t know why but mine didn’t smell good, I don’t know if these are supposed to have a scent or not, but the scent was somehow like old product. Then the product itself felt goopy and looked like a paste over my lips, not a natural look in my opinion, and I think it ended chapping my lips as well. Not a good experience.

Today I decided to give it another try, so I used one of the small lipsticks I used the one in fig, which is kind of a mauve neutral color. Have you smelled lipsticks when they have expired? You know that strange old scent? Well this definitely is old; I didn’t like it and could not bear de scent.

I am not judging this brand by any means, maybe these products are good and I only got a Lemon (a very sour one), but definitely I am returning this because it cost me $15.00 dollars and I will not be using them. I am really sad, because now I am on the fence of trying Bite products again, what would you think? Have you tried them? Are they supposed to smell like that?

Anyways, that’s it, now I have to start thinking what can I get for $15.00 on Sephora, any suggestions?

Until Next Time,

xoxo
